The death of 40-year-old Patrick Sawyer in Lagos, Nigeria sparked fears of an epidemic not only in the country, but all around the world.

Mr. Sawyer took 2 planes to arrive in the commercial hub where he died and his final destination was Minnesota in the United States.

The international community has begun to raise awareness after three people were tested for the virus in the UK and Hong Kong due to symptoms similar to the disease.

The 3 persons have been cleared but this has done almost nothing to assuage the fears of people worldwide about the scourge that has claimed over 600 lives in West Africa.

Liberia and Sierra Leone, which are two of the worst hit nations have begun emergency measures as the former has cancelled all football games and closed schools while the latter has declared a state of emergency.

The United Kingdom has said that the disease is a great threat to it and efforts are being made to counter infections after 2 people tested negative after displaying symptoms. The European Union has also said that it is prepared for any eventualities as regards the spread of the disease.

 A spokesperson for the United States Center for Disease Control, Stephan Monroe said:

"No Ebola cases have been reported in the United States and the likelihood of this outbreak spreading outside of West Africa is very low. I want to underscore that Ebola poses little risk to the U.S. general population."

An expert also said that even if any case was reported, the US had adequate isolation facilities and medical equipment to handle it.

Meanwhile in Nigeria, where Mr. Sawyer died, health officials are trying to narrow down the list of people who might have gotten in contact with the deceased.

“It’s An Attack On God”: Christians Turn Out To Oppose ‘Satanic Black Mass’ in America

Over 37,000 people especially Catholics have signed a petition against a planned satanic black mass in Oklahoma City.

The Catholic archbishop of the city is also protesting against the mass by Satanists.

"The black mass is an attempt to rip God out of the fabric of our nation. That's why more and more people are joining the protest," said John Ritchie, the Student Action Director for the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP).

"The sole purpose of the black mass is to attack God, the Catholic Mass and the Holy Eucharist in a most obscene, indecent and hateful manner. Satanists typically steal a consecrated host from a church to desecrate in unspeakable ways."

Reports say the black mass is due to take place on September 21, at the city's the local civic center and organised by by local Oklahoma City satanist Adam Daniels, who says he is the high priest of a local satanic group.

However, Daniels explained that a satanic mass contains similar themes to a Catholic mass, but participants worship Satan instead of God.

A petition against the mass by TFP has been signed by 37,877 people, and has a goal of 50,000 signatures.

"With my whole heart and soul, I express full, complete and vehement rejection of the satanic 'black mass' scheduled at the Oklahoma City Civic Centre on Sept. 21. I urge you to cancel this event which offends 1 billion Catholics worldwide, 200,000 Catholics in Oklahoma and countless more God-loving Americans. Sacrilege is simply NOT free speech," the petition reads, addressed to Stephen Sharpe of the Oklahoma City Civic Centre, Mayor Mick Cornett and Governor Mary Fallin.

Paul Coakley, archbishop of Oklahoma City, has also urged city organizers to intervene and stop the black mass from taking place.

"We're astonished and grieved that the civic centre would promote as entertainment and sell tickets for an event that is very transparently a blasphemous mockery of the mass," Coakley said in a statement.

"The 'black mass' that is scheduled for the civic centre in September is a satanic inversion and distortion of the most sacred beliefs, not only of Catholics, but of all Christians."

'He Was Cutting Off Her Breast': Man Arrested After Killing Girlfriend 'For Rituals' In Lagos

The police in Lagos have arrested a young man after he was accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend.

28-year-old Raphael Effiong is said to have committed the offence inside a hotel in the Ketu area of the state. Effiong is said to have cut off 26-year-old Gift Sunday's breast and one of her fingers with a pair of scissors.

Staff of the hotel reportedly heard the deceased screaming and they rushed into the room to find her in a pool of blood. Sunday was taken to a hospital in the area but she succumbed to her injuries and died.

The family members of the deceased have alleged that Effiong wanted to sue their daughter's body parts for rituals. One of them said:

"What we heard was that on reaching the hotel, the suspect ordered for drinks. As our daughter was sipping hers, he brought out a pair of scissors and started cutting one of her breasts."

 "She was screaming at that point. Not done, he cut one of her fingers and attempted to gag her so he could finish his satanic mission. "Her scream alerted people who came to her rescue.

"We were told she gave this version while she was being rushed to the hospital. "We were also told the boyfriend attempted to escape but was apprehended by the hotel staff before the arrival of policemen from Alapere."

 The police on the other hand, while confirming the incident, stated that the deceased was only stabbed with the scissors. The suspect is currently in police custody while the incident is being investigated.

Members of the Iwofe, Rumuolumeni community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers have reported a curious case after they claimed that they saw a cat change into a boy.

The incident is said to have occurred on Monday when the mysterious cat reportedly wandered into a home frightening its occupants.

 According to them, as they were making attempts to chase away the domestic animal, it metamorphosed into a 10-year-old boy. The boy reportedly began pleading for his life implicating an older man in the community as the sponsor of his evil mission.

Police in the area have arrested both the 48-year-old man implicated and the 10-year-old boy "in connection to witchcraft activity."

Not Again! Blast Hits Mosques Near Emir’s Palace In Yobe

At least 6 people are reported to have been killed in the blast

Two mosques in Yobe state have been attacked by suicide bombers killing at least 6 people and leaving several others injured.

According to reports, witnesses have blamed Boko Haram Islamists for the attack.

The first explosion rocked an open air mosque belonging to a Shiite Muslim sect in Dogo Tebo , Potiskum at about 7:55 pm leaving four people dead.

The second blast was heard 5 minutes later at the mosque in the compound of the chief imam in the town's Anguwar Bolawa area, which killed at least two worshippers.

One of the witnesses, who identified himself as Balarabe Dahiru said: "A suicide bomber we believe was from Boko Haram blew himself up at the open air mosque used by Shiites which they name Saqafa shortly after saying their evening prayers there."

"We took four dismembered bodies of the victims to the hospital along with five others who were injured," said Dahiru who was sitting outside his house when the blast happened.

"The body of the suicide bomber was left untouched by residents in protest," he said.

A resident Awwal Maikusa who gave a similar account said a second blast occurred five minutes later.

"They are obviously the handiwork of Boko Haram," Maikusa said of the two attacks.

"We were trying to deal with the suicide blast in our neighbourhood when a second explosion was heard which we later learnt was from the chief imam's compound," he said.

Another witness, Sheriff Abdullahi said: "A suicide bomber went inside the mosque while Muslim faithful were saying their evening prayer,"

"There was a loud explosion moments after the suicide bomber entered the mosque," Abdullahi said.

"I saw two dead bodies whom I recognized being taken out of the mosque," he said.

The town has been on lock down by soldiers following the twin attacks and residents have been ordered to remain indoors.

A few months ago, the same Fani-Kayode who left the APC back to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had accused the party running the Boko Haram sect, and urged them to take it up with him but the party has yet to come out to refute the claim.

This seems to have given Fani-Kayode's claims more credence, and he has insisted that he has the details of the APC's dealings with the insurgents.

While speaking with journalists in Osogbo, Osun State, after attending a campaign rally of the PDP, the ever controversial Fani-Kayode, insisted that some members of the APC, particularly those from the North, were sponsoring the operations of Boko Haram.

«The APC in the North is the political wing of Boko Haram in the northern part of Nigeria. This, I have said before and no one among them was bold enough to challenge me. I will continue to say it again and again.

A priest from Poland believes demons have been sending him hateful text messages after he performed exorcism on an un-named teenage girl.

Father Marian Rajchel now claims the messages are a sign that his effort to cast out the demons from the girl's soul had obviously failed and they are using the teen to attack him through cell phone messages.


The priest admitted to a local media, "The author of these texts is an evil spirit who has possessed her soul," but added something interesting when he claimed that the devil and his followers were not shy about using modern technology.

"Often the owners of mobile phones are not even aware that they are being used like this, however in this case it is clear."

One of the text messages Father Rajchel claimed to have received read: "She will not come out of this hell. She's mine. Anyone who prays for her will die." Rajchel's response, however, was that he had prayed for her and sent back another text message, getting the message in return:

"Shut up, preacher. You cannot save yourself. Idiot. You pathetic old preacher." He added: "Clearly this young girl has been possessed, and needs further help." According to UKDailyMirror

'Female Suicide Bombers Are Becoming The Trend': Oby Ezekwesili Fears For Chibok Girls' Safety

The recent bombings in Kano carried out by young girls have become a cause for concern among the populace

Nigerians have expressed worry at the recent spate of suicide bombings carried out by young females, especially as the over 200 schoolgirls, who were kidnapped from Chibok in Borno, are still being held captive.

Two explosions occurred on Monday in different parts of Kano state and both were said to have been carried out by teenage girls. This has led to former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili expressing the fear that the girls might have been forcefully turned into suicide bombers.

 She said via Twitter:

"Female suicide bombers are again and again becoming the trend and our Chibok girls are still in the enemy's den. It worries me stiff. Are we thinking? Our Chibok girls really need to be rescued from the clutches of evil."

 "It feels like eternity since April 14 when our girls lost their freedom. How can we move on like that? This new trend and serial pattern of female suicide bombers surely should particularly worry us."

Mrs. Ezekwesili has been relentless in her agitation for the rescue of the girls and is one of the front runners of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.

Horrible! Female Suicide Bomber Blows Self & 3 Others At NNPC Megastation Kano

In another suicide bomb attack in Kano, no fewer than 3 people have been reported dead

This morning's attack has left 4 people including the bomber dead and 8 people injured
Fresh on the heels of the bomb attack on a Catholic church in Kano yesterday Sunday July 27th, a suicide bomber suspected to be female attacked an NNPC mega station along Maiduguri road in Kano state this morning.

In a statement released by the Nigerian Police Force, "a suicide bomber suspected to be a female slipped into a crowd of citizens buying kerosene at the Station before detonating the explosives. The suicide bomber and three others have been confirmed dead, eight persons are injured and rushed to the hospital."

Earlier the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi had reportedly cancelled the Eid-El-Fitri celebrations in the state owing to the unrest and insecurity in the state.

Meanwhile read the statement released by the Police Force on this morning's attack.

 

«Today, 28-07-14 at about 10:00am, another suicide bomb went off at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Mega Filling Station at Hotoro Quarter along Maiduguri Road, Kano. A suicide bomber suspected to be a female had slipped into the crowd of citizens buying kerosene at the Station before detonating the explosives. The suicide bomber and three others have been confirmed dead, eight persons are injured and rushed to the Hospital.
It is instructive to note that the Mega Station did not go ablaze due to the security barricade put in place by the Policemen on duty at the station. Such a situation would have clearly complicated the Emergency response.
Security Forces have cordoned off the scene, and Police Bomb Disposal Experts are "sweeping" the area. Citizens are advised to stay off the scene, be vigilant and report any suspicious person(s) or activities to security forces. Full scale investigation has commenced, intensive patrol of the city is ongoing.

Columbian super star Shakira and her soccer player partner, Gerard Piqué, are happy to be parents again later this year. Both already share a 19-month-old son, Milan together.

News of her pregnancy was confirmed by her close friend, Columbian singer Carlos Vives, who told told Fox News Latino: "Yes, she is pregnant and she's very happy."

The 'Hips Don't Lie' hitmaker first sparked rumors she is expecting again after she "toned down" her belly dancing performance at the Fifa World Cup 2014 final between Germany and Argentina two weeks ago.

Even though the 37 year old blonde beauty and her FC Barcelona beau, whom she met in 2010, are yet to confirm the news, it is believed they will be "buying pink baby clothes this autumn."

In addition, Shakira previously admitted that she would like to have a large family with Gerard, but had been forced to put her baby plans on hold for a while as her budding career was getting in the way.

She said earlier this year: "If it weren't because of my music projects, I would be pregnant already. I would love to have eight or nine kids with Gerard--my own soccer team."

According to the Mirror UK, the baby was playing in the bedroom upstairs when he suddenly got and walked for the first time – and of course it ended in disaster.

Little Murphy's tumbled onto the landing and plunged straight through a gap in the spindles - landing with a heavy bump on tiles 9ft below.

However, the baby is back on his feet after escaping with a cracked eye socket and a black eye

His mum, 33-year-old Kelly said: "That day was the first day he decided to start walking everywhere.

"He has been around that area a million times before when he was crawling and there have been no problems. When I saw him lying there on the floor, I thought that was it.

"I thought we were going to lose him or that if he survived he wouldn't be the same little boy he was before. By some miracle, he's OK.

"He's doing great now. He is back on his feet now; although I would rather he wasn't to be honest."

He was immediately rushed to the hospital after his father, David, called for an ambulance. It was initially thought by doctors that Jonah was going to need an operation due the orbital bone above his left eye which was fractured but miraculously was left with a huge black eye.

Sad News: Former FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai Loses Son In Car Crash

Hamza El-Rufai was said to have been involved in a car crash in the Federal Capital Territory
These are sad times for the family of Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasir El-Rufai. The prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost his son today in a car accident.

The unfortunate incident is said to have occurred in Abuja and the news was broken by the former minister himself via Facebook.

He said:

"From Allah, we came and to Him we shall return. Please join our family in praying for the repose of the soul of my son, Hamza El-Rufai who died this morning in a motor accident in Abuja."

This comes after the death in London of El-Rufai's eldest daughter, Yasmin on November 26, 2011 after a neurological attack and the death of his brother and nephew in October last year.

May God grant the family fortitude to bear the loss.

Ebola In Lagos: 59 People Came In Contact With The Dead Liberian But No Nigerian Is Infected Says Lagos Health Ministry

The Lagos State Ministry of Health has said that no one in the country has been infected with the deadly virus

The death of Liberian, Patrick Sawyer in Lagos from the Ebola virus caused panic in the populace but the Ministry of Health has said that there is no reason to fear.

The Lagos State Government has stated that a total of 59 people came in contact with Mr. Sawyer, including 44 health care workers and 15 other people at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, but that no one has been infected with the virus. This was disclosed yesterday by Dr. Jide Idris, the Commissioner for Health in the state.

 He added further that this did not include the people who flew in the same Asky Airline plane as the deceased Liberian as the flight manifest had not yet been released.

According to him:

 "So far, 59 contacts have been registered, consisting 44 hospital contacts (38 health care workers and six laboratory staff) and 15 airport contacts. The 15 airport contacts comprise three ECOWAS staff-driver, Liaison, and Protocol Officer, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five airport passenger handlers.

 As of the time of this report, 20 contacts had been physically screened of which 50 per cent had type one contact and 50 per cent had had type two contact." "Airline manifest has not been provided by the airline and therefore the precise number of passenger contacts has yet to be ascertained, especially as two flights were involved (Monrovia-Lome and Lome-Lagos). There was no report of medical incident and the General Declaration report of the flight."

The commissioner advised Nigerians not to panic confirming that nobody in the country had been infected with the virus, and that state and the federal governments were working to ensure that the virus did not infect anybody in the country. "We can categorically state that as of today, we have only one case of imported Ebola and death.

 No Nigerian is infected, but all contacts are being actively followed. "We call on all Nigerians to be calm and not panic. We assure them that both the state and the Federal Government are up in arms to ensure that the virus did not escape and that no Nigerian is infected with this virus." he added.

 40-year-old Mr. Sawyer died in Lagos on July 25 after coming into the country for a conference. Meanwhile the operations of Asky Airlines into the country have been suspended and Arik Air has also announced a suspension of its flights to and from Liberia and Sierra Leone due to the Ebola scourge.

'Our Bank Insiders Brought Out The Cash': Fraudsters Confess To Police In Lagos

The three men were arrested based on a tip-off and they revealed the tricks of their trade
The police in Lagos have arrested a gang of criminals whose specialty was fraudulently withdrawing money from the bank accounts of oblivious customers.

 Kola Osho, Oyedepo Adesola and Kola Ademola told the police that their work was made easy by the fact that they usually had insiders in the bank they operated in.

The trio were arrested in the Abule Egba area of the state after the police were informed of their suspicious movements. Ademola said:

 Last year, I met one boy called Samson who stayed in Obalende, and he was the one who got the cheques and brought them to me. "I don't know how he got them, but they were original cheques.

We delivered these to the banks insiders who worked on them, and brought out the cash. But because of the present cashless policy, we can only withdraw less than N100,000 which would not require the confirmation from the signatories.

The police are currently investigating the charges against the accused who were also found in possession of a number of forged documents.

The Nation newspaper reports that Lagbaja had been approached to entertain supporters of Omisore at the forthcoming Osun state gubernatorial election rally but he promptly turned them stating that although Omisore had been been acquitted for the murder of late Attorney-General of the Nation, Bola Ige, he believed that Omisore was still culpable of the offence.

In his words:

«"Though the court of the land discharged and acquitted you (Omisore) in the murder case against the former Minister of Justice in Nigeria, the late Cicero of Esa-Oke & foremost nationalist, Chief Bola Ige, I have deep-rooted innermost conviction that you are culpable in the death of my mentor and benefactor. If you offer me all the allocation of Osun State during your four-year-tenure peradventure you win (which I seriously doubt), I will not perform for Iyiola Omisore governorship election."

Brown is apparently renting an 8,000 square foot, 6 bedroom house in Agoura, near the Malibu boarder but technically part of the Valley, according toTMZ.

The apartment is said to have a commercial ice cream bar, dance studio, billiard room, tennis court , as well as a clubhouse and there's plenty of space to park 75 cars.

But one of Brown's neighbours told the gossip site bluntly, "It can be the devil. I can care less. I don't care if they're having freaky chop-down session. It can even be Saddam Hussein for all I care, as long as he doesn't trespass onto my property. If he does, I shoot him."


This becomes the second young artists to face neighbour issues after Justin Bieber was basically forced to move out of his Calabasas Mansion earlier this year for allegedly egging his neighbour's door and accused of being a nuisance thanks to his wild house parties!

Terrible! 5 Dead As Blast Hits Catholic Church In Kano State

The police say an improvised explosive device may have been thrown into the church 
It was another tragic event in Kano state when a blast at St Charles Catholic Church, No Man's Land, Sabon Gari district, killed at least 5 worshipers in the church, leaving 8 others injured.

The blast occurred after the church had held its Sunday mass.

According to eyewitnesses, the people affected may have been more than the confirmed number, with scores feared dead.

Reports say the blast was confirmed by the police spokesman, Frank Mba who said that the bomb was "probably an improvised explosive device thrown from across the street". 

Sabon Gari district has suffered previous attacks by the terrorist sect, Boko Haram.

According to an aide who spoke to AFP, the Emir issued a statement which read: "Given the critical situation we are in, the royal highness (of Kano state, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) has suspended all festivities associated with the eminence including the Durbar and other traditional events that are held during the Eid festival."
